I think this is closer to 15 seconds, but I have a feeling there’s a lot to grab from this.
Can’t seem to find the original link, but I grabbed it from the NASA site a while ago:

9weeks Project 1: “from 10 to 60 seconds”
1. have a sound experience
2. take one 10 second sample of that experience
3. take that 10 second sample and produce at minimum 60 seconds of audio and upload
4. repeat excercise for same 10 second sample for 9weeks!
Notes: For a lively discussion surrounding your posts, please include the original sample and for each week, post some comments about your process–what is and is not working. What choices did you make and why? What makes your new composition reflective of the original experience?
ADDENDUM:
*After some discussion with Bill and Kupo while visiting back east, it seems that people would like an even more disciplined challenge. Bill proposed we all work off of the same 10 second sample. What do the rest of you think about this? If you like this idea, post a 10 second sound sample and we’ll vote on them this week (by 5/26).
audio player
I’ve uploaded an audio player plugin. When you are posting, there is a field for uploads, the upload should end up being in the /audio folder at the wordpress root. I would suggest that users set up a category (should be to the right of the “write post” page in the admin panel for wordpress) so that each user can search for their files by their own category. Hopefully this will help keep our posts organized.

login is at http://www.ockham-sound.com/9weeks/wp-admin/ sorry for any confusion this might have caused; i’ve been staring at this for too long. after you register, it will send you an email to confirm you are who you say you are. after that all i have to do is give you all contributor status. i’ll keep my eyes out to make sure everyone’s getting in okay.
Initial Site Test
This is the initial site testing phase. If you have not done so already, please register. After you register, you will be logged in as a subscriber; and I will receive an email. I’ll make everyone who registers, contributors to the site–you’ll be able to create and maintain posts, categories, and pages. I’m working on embedding a simple audio player to the site, should be ready sometime Monday evening. In the meantime, poke around, see if anything important breaks. Things will get more interesting after today!
As soon as I’ve run a test on uploading audio–and referencing that folder, we’re good to go.
