ockham-sound
Ockham-sound: A place to disect the past, rearrange the new. As musicians and sound artists, often we find ourselves entrenched in practices which are superfluous. In private we huddle behind dim-lit monitors, strap on the headphones and cross the same circles over again hoping to tap the right vein. Few of us hold out our arms and let someone else surgically open it.
The arts are, in one sense, about confession--the need to expose something secret and sacred. The origins of the sacred are inherently tied up in violence, some irruption of the Other which takes our senses hostage, ravages our minds and our bodies, ...shaves us bald and naked. We must make ourselves anew. It is here I give you my arms. You, my likeness, my Other.
